The experience of Reiki is different for each person; it is subjective, changeable and sometimes very subtle.

2. Your Reiki Practitioner will use various hand positions, gently on different areas of the body or hovering just above the body. Certain areas of the body will NEVER be hands on.

3. Your Reiki Practitioner will ask you if you are comfortable with appropriate, light physical touch during your session or not.

4. Please advise your Reiki Practitioner of any cultural, religious protocols to be observed and respected.

5. You may experience heat, coolness, pins and needles, tingling, vibrational buzzing, electrical sparks, numbness, throbbing, itchiness, sleepiness. Some people have also reported seeing visualisations such as colours or pictures or having memories pop up.

6. People often comment how peaceful and relaxing they find the experience of Reiki. One of the commonly reported experiences is an almost immediate release of stress and a feeling of deep relaxation, some people report feeling calm or energised, you may also feel tired.

7. You may not feel anything at all, that is perfectly ok because fortunately, Reiki works whether you feel it or not. Reiki energy goes exactly where it is needed and as your practitioner my intention will always be that, the Reiki energy is for your greatest and highest good.

8. Although people typically leave a Reiki session feeling refreshed, sometimes they notice feeling more tired than usual. This is not an adverse reaction but rather a reaction to the body’s natural healing response. People commonly report a sense of calm and mental clarity as well as sleeping well that night after receiving Reiki.

9. Besides the immediate experiences of Reiki you may have during your session (mentioned above), you may notice other changes that continue to unfold as the day goes on, perhaps stronger digestion, a sense of being more centred and poised and less reactive.

Following Your Reiki Session

Ensure you sit still for a few moments, have a drink of water and make sure you do not leave the premises until you are fit and ready to do so, especially if you are driving immediately following your Reiki session.

After your Reiki session, you may experience a healing release. Any symptoms usually settle after a day or so, here are 5 things to consider doing following your Reiki session:

1. Drink plenty of water; this will help your body flush out toxins after your Reiki Session. Experiencing thirst after a Reiki session is very normal and healthy; it is your body letting you know it is working hard to flush away-unwanted toxins.

2. Go for a walk in nature, if you experience a burst of energy or restlessness after your Reiki session, your body could be signalling that physical movement is needed to aid the process, start with something gentle like walking outside in the fresh air.

3. Take a nap, if your Reiki session has left you feeling tired or sleepy then listen to your body, go ahead and take a nap if you can, get the rest your body needs.

4. Capture your thoughts, feelings and emotions in a notebook / journal or on your phone. These can rise to the surface after your Reiki session. The unlocking and release of built up energy during your Reiki session can be experienced in so many ways including a rush of thoughts, feelings and emotions. Capturing these can help to sort through those and let go of unwanted energies that no longer serve you.

5. Stretch your body, you may get the immediate urge to have a big stretch, gentle stretching is always a good way to rid the body of energy build-ups. After your Reiki session, stretching is beneficial because it can help remove stored energy that was unlocked during your session.

Useful Information

1. Reiki is a gentle, non-invasive, wellness option that helps the body to heal itself on so many levels.

2. During a Reiki session, the body’s energy is recalibrated and rebalanced enabling the whole body to be treated.

3. Through Reiki, the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual modalities of the human system become realigned and rebalanced heading towards a feeling of Wholeness.

4. Reiki is completely safe and never causes any harm.

5. If you have any concerns about your session please contact me directly so I can provide you with the support you need, if you feel uncomfortable at any stage during your session it’s important you let me know.

6. It is important to allow whatever arises during your session to pass without attaching too much focus on what it might mean.

7. Reiki is cumulative; people who don’t notice much the first time often have noticed progressively deeper experiences if they continue.

8. Reiki is a wonderfully passive experience. Don’t try to relax, let Reiki relax you. Your state will shift naturally as your Reiki session proceeds.
